We’ll be using the Tin Can Knits Flax Sweater, which is a free unisex pattern that is sized from 0-6 months to adults 6XL. Choose to knit a small size and learn all the basics needed to progress to an adult sweater, or jump straight in and make one for yourself!
You should already be confident in some basic knitting skills: knitting, purling, casting on and casting off. Experience of knitting in the round is very useful, but not strictly necessary.
What the course will cover:
-Selecting appropriate yarn and needles
-Measuring yourself and choosing the correct size
-Swatching for gauge
-Reading a knitting pattern and understanding the terminology used
-Knitting in the round
-Using stitch markers
-Increasing stitches
-Optional short row shaping
-Basic top-down sweater construction
-Knitting to your shape
-Finishing and blocking your garment
The course fee includes tuition and pattern instruction. You will need to provide needles and yarn. These will be available to purchase separately with a 10% discount for class participants.

Classes start at 6pm and run for two hours, finishing at approximately 8pm.
Classes take place at Flock, 25 Kings Road, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex. We are a short walk from St Leonards Warrior Square train station, and there is limited parking in the surrounding roads.
The price is for five Thursday evening sessions. Full payment is required at the time of booking. Please give us 48 hours notice if you are no longer able to attend a class - if you give less than 48 hours notice then a refund will be dependant on us being able to fill your space. If you are not able to attend, you may send someone else in your place - please let us know their details in advance.
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a class, you will receive a full refund.
