Knitting Classes at Flock
Learn to knit at Flock. Whether you are a complete beginner or a confident knitter, we offer a range of knitting classes and groups to help you advance your skills. All classes take place around the table at our shop in St Leonards on Sea, and we keep them small so everyone gets plenty of help.
Join us on Thursday 19th November from 6pm-8pm for our next monthly Knit Night. Bring along your knitting or crochet and work on it alongside other likeminded folk, after hours in our lovely wool shop. There will be plenty of support and encouragement available, as well as refreshments.
Please book your Knit Night tickets in advance as we have limited space in the shop and may not be able to accommodate walk-ins on the night.

On the first Sunday of every month, from 11am-1pm, we invite you to bring along a (textile) mending project to work on round shop table. It could be a favourite garment, a worn out sock, moth damaged woollens or even a treasured childhood toy. We provide all the yarn and tools that you need, plus some guidance and encouragement.
The mending drop in costs £5. You can either book online, or pay on the day (there is no need to book ahead).
Thursday October 1st, 8th & 15th 2026, 6pm-8pm.
Knit a sock over three 2-hour evening classes at Flock, and learn all the skills you need to knit a second to complete your pair! Join us from 6pm-8pm on three consecutive Thursday evenings to learn everything you need to make a pair of top down socks.
This intermediate level class will cover:
choosing suitable yarn
working a stretchy cast on
knitting a heel flap and gusset and turning the heel
toe decreases
seamless grafting
blocking and finishing
This class costs £75 for three 2-hour sessions. Class sizes are small - there will be a maximum of six participants in each class so that everybody can get as much help as they need!
You will need one 100g skein of sock yarn and double pointed needles in 2.25mm AND 2.75mm. You can either bring your own, or purchase these in the shop ahead of the class. Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of the start time if you wish to purchase materials.
This is an intermediate class and you should already be able to confidently cast on and knit ribbing and stockinette in the round with 4-ply yarn. Please ensure that you are able to attend all three sessions. You will need to do some knitting on your project between classes.
Would you like to learn to knit from scratch? Or maybe you need help planning a project, working through a pattern or learning a new skill such as colourwork, cable or lace knitting? You can now book a 1:1 session with Harriet to work through any aspect of your knitting.
1:1 sessions take place in the St Leonards shop, and can be scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Please contact us once you have booked to arrange a time and discuss your requirements.
Please note that the price is per hour. Tools and materials are not included, but we are happy to help you select appropriate ones. Please come into the shop ahead of your lesson if you would like to do this.

Aimed at complete beginners, our Knitting Taster Session will give you the chance to master the foundations of knitting in a small group setting.
We will show you how to cast on, then we’ll spend the session practising knit and purl stitches. Before you leave, we’ll show you how to cast off and secure your work, and give you lots of suggestions for further resources and next steps.
You can choose to bring your own yarn and needles, or purchase them in the shop ahead of the class (please arrive at least ten minutes before we start if you wish to do this).
