Sheep come in the most amazing range of natural, warm, muted colours. From the rich warm brown of coloured Romneys to the dark lustreous greys of Wensleydales, the creamy whites of Dorsets and Merinos and the bright white of Lleyns, and everywhere in between. All of these shades are incredibly easy to wear on their own, and they look absolutely stunning when used together for colourwork.

Commercial dyeing of yarn is also incredibly water intensive. Using naturally coloured wool removes this stage from the production so is a more environmentally sustainable option. Undyed yarn is also the perfect choice if you want to have a go at dyeing your own, either using natural materials or chemical dyes..
