For those July days when it's too hot to do much at all. Maybe just head to the beach with an iced drink and relax for a while.

May marks the point where we tip over into summer here in the UK. Shake off the last traces of winter and head deep into the verdant woods, where everything is humming with life at this time of the year.

Celebrating the departure of winter, here’s a light and airy mix of music from around the world. The sort of sounds you may hear drift from inside your favourite coffee shop on a bright morning as you sit outside watching the world go by.

This month’s playlist has been inspired by my gansey knitting project. It’s a mixture of traditional songs referencing sailors and fishermen, sounds from the sea and shanties.

Yarn labels contain lots of important and helpful information. It’s important to be able to understand what they are telling you so that you know exactly what you are buying, can select the right yarn and tools for your project, and are able to care for it properly once you’ve made it.

After a long and dark January, Chris has put together some songs that embrace that emerging from winter feeling.

Garter stitch is usually the first stitch that you learn how to do as a new knitter. Once you’ve mastered the knit stitch, you can jump straight in and produce a piece of garter fabric on straight needles by simply knitting every stitch in every row. But it isn’t just for beginners.

BFL fleece is incredibly soft and fine, and is a key component in many of the beautiful UK produced yarns that we stock here at flock. Here we take a look at the history and characteristics of this prolific British sheep breed.
